Zaid and Jide

Very soon I will be sitting thousands of feet above land and sea waiting to land thousands of miles away from anything familiar slowly transforming into a foreigner.

I am leaving the country tomorrow afternoon.

The uncertainty of what awaits in Swaziland is clouded by the excitement that comes with crossing new borders that are a little larger than the ones already crossed. Borders that are not closely followed by welcome centers with picnic tables, nasty bathrooms, and families flooding out of minivans towards the previous two attractions (i.e. Louisiana, Mississippi, etc.).

Although I am about to do something I have never done before, I am tired of traveling. I just want to stay in one spot for a little while and relax. I either need rest or some sort of strength and energy for Swaziland. God is faithful always. The following is proof.

Today I saw a guy on the sidewalk flailing his arms around like a lunatic trying to flag me down. Naturally I pulled over and rolled my window down. I ended up randomly giving these two guys from Nigeria a ride to Walmart. It's an interesting story, really. On our way back to campus, we got to talking about Swaziland. I told them I was missing a week of school to take the Gospel there. Then my new friend, Jide, said this:

"Why don't you come to Nigeria? We have been waiting on you."

They are waiting. Waiting for someone to show up with the Gospel. Jide and Zaid gave me a new kind of excitement about this trip. Thank you, Jesus, for little things such as this.

The harvest is plentiful.

Brett

I should tell you that it's not Jide that rhymes with ride or tide, it's pronounced Jee-day. Zaid is prounounced Zy-eed. Crazy Nigerians.
